Our Story
A Philadelphia-area high school assistant principal knew there was a better way to monitor his chaotic hallways. He took his idea to the computer science class. Two seniors—Peter Luba and Dhruv Sringari—took the problem and got to work. Their solution had an immediate impact.
After launching SmartPass in 2018, the team and the product have continued growing. Backed by Reach Capital, SmartPass is committed to building best-in-class software that supports better learning environments and reduces the burden on educators.

Our Interview Process
Application Review
We put eyes on every application that comes in! We are looking at the roles you’ve held, the industries you’ve worked in, and the accomplishments you highlight.
Recruiter Phone Screen
You will spend 30 minutes with our VP of People Ops to talk through some core traits of success for all SmartPass employees—humility, autonomous action, and customer-centricity.
Hiring Manager Phone Screen
You will spend 30–45 minutes with the hiring manager. The hiring manager will dig in on some specific accomplishments to understand if your skills and abilities would translate well to their team.
Live or Take Home Exercise
Growing the product and team at SmartPass Speed requires people we can trust to take initiative and make good judgements. Most roles will include an exercise as part of the interview process, typically live and always role-specific. This helps us see how you work and gives you an opportunity to experience working with us.
Behavioral Interviews
As a final step, you’ll participate in a few one-on-one interviews with cross-functional team members. Each will focus on a specific trait that reflects our core values. This approach ensures we get a well-rounded understanding of you as a candidate, and gives you a chance to meet some of your potential future colleagues.
